Curated Recipes

Tipply was originally conceived as a tool to help guide home bartenders to great recipes from highly regarded sources, without having to wade through duplicative, untrustworthy recipes. With that goal in mind, the recipes available through Tipply are sourced from award-winning cocktail books and similar sources.

Recipe standardization

As a source is integrated into Tipply, each recipe is carefully reviewed, with the techniques to create the recipe categorized into a set of common procedures. The recipe is then presented in a standard format that makes it easy to read while mixing drinks. By standardizing the recipes, the drinks can then be categorized and tie into a variety of services, such as serving calculations, drink style, and similarity to other recipes.

Ingredient categorization

While recipes are integrated, each ingredient is stringently organized into categories and associated with attributes such as ABV, acidity, and sweetness. Where possible, ingredients that can be made are identified and associated with sub-recipes. This process allows for Tipply to offer ingredient recommendations and substitutions!

Add your own recipes

Tipply allows you to add your own recipes, and to save your riffs and tweaks on existing recipes. You can also share your recipes with other users!

Remember what you like

As you make drinks in Tipply, you can rate drinks to remember what you liked! You can also record recipes notes, share comments, and upload photos of your cocktails!

Great sources

Tipply's recipes are primarily sources from cocktail books that have been recognized by a Tales of the Cocktail Spirited Award or the James Beard Foundation. These include:
